The sales workflow adaptation playbook
Sales adaptation fails when applied as random tools per rep. A playbook sequences changes across the funnel with clear owners and metrics — the same discipline you'd apply to operations or fulfillment.
Stage one — intake and qualification (days 29–30 concepts): structured capture, AI enrichment, human gate. Stage two — discovery: AI-generated pre-call briefs, standardized question banks, automated follow-up summaries sent to prospects. Stage three — proposal: templated assembly, rapid turnaround, review checklist.
Stage four — negotiation support: scenario modeling on pricing tiers, objection libraries updated from win/loss data, contract clause summaries — not legal advice, but preparation. Stage five — handoff to delivery: automated project kickoff packs generated from CRM, reducing reinterpretation errors.
Roll out one stage per month for typical teams under fifty. Parallel rollouts confuse and obscure what works. Each stage gets a champion, training session, and KPI from day twenty-seven.
Review the playbook monthly with sales — what's friction, what's theater, what's missing. Adaptation playbooks are living documents. Export yours as a checklist new hires receive on day one. Consistency beats heroics in sales as volume grows.
