Reporting that drives decisions, not decorates dashboards
Entrepreneurs drown in metrics that decorate dashboards but don't change Monday morning decisions. AI makes generating charts trivial — which worsens the problem unless reporting ties to explicit questions.
Start with five weekly questions. Examples: Where is revenue leaking? Which workflows missed SLA? What feedback themes spiked? Are adaptation KPIs moving? What cash risks appear in next 30 days? Each question gets one primary visualization or narrative answer — not twelve.
Automate data pull and first-draft narrative; human leader annotates 'so what' and assigns actions. Store action items in the same place as reports — otherwise reporting becomes theater.
Kill unused reports ruthlessly. If nobody referenced a chart in 30 days, delete it. Cognitive load is a real cost for small teams.
Align reporting cadence with adaptation reviews from day twenty-eight. Decisions, not data volume, define useful reporting. AI assists preparation; leadership retains accountability for choices.
