Human-centric AI isn't a slogan — it's a design choice

7 min read · Apr 2026
How to keep human judgment in the loop as you automate, and why it pays off.

Human-centric AI sounds like branding until you need to explain to a regulator — or a customer — why an automated decision was made and who can override it.

Design for human judgment at three points: input validation, decision review for high-stakes outcomes, and appeal paths when the model is wrong. Document each in plain language.

Automation should amplify expertise, not hide it. The best AI deployments make the expert faster and more consistent — they don't remove the expert from the loop on matters of consequence.

Teams adopt AI they trust. Trust comes from transparency, override capability, and measurable improvement — not from forcing usage through policy alone.
